We’re here to help you with any question you may have about Team MSAA, fundraising, and more. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. If you are experiencing online difficulties or have a question that is not answered here, please call (800) 532-7667 ext. 161.
What is Team MSAA?
Team MSAA is a nationwide community joining together to help MSAA provide free programs and direct services to individuals with MS, their families, and care partners. Through your fundraising efforts, we can make a difference with every mile!
Who can participate?
Anyone! It doesn't matter who you are or where you live. We'll help you train and finish any type of race. However, we always encourage you to check with your doctor to make sure you are physically able to participate in a race or endurance event before signing up.
Do I need to fundraise after I pay my registration fee?
Fundraising is not required to participate, however when you register you will receive a personal fundraising page and we encourage you to fundraise for the MS community! Funds raised through Team MSAA help MSAA provide free programs and services such as cooling equipment for heat-sensitive individuals, mobility and assistive devices, MRI funding, education programs, and more to members of the MS community.
When will I receive my race medal & other Team MSAA fundraising incentives?
All participants can expect to receive their Team MSAA finishers medal and other fundraising incentives 1-2 weeks after the challenge is completed on June 30th.
Where does the event take place?
There is no set location or specific time/date for the virtual challenge, this ensures that team members can participate wherever they’re located, whenever they want! You can complete your challenge in one day or over the entire month. We do not require proof of completion of your challenge for you to receive your medal.
What if I am unable to complete my challenge?
That’s ok! We do not require proof of completion of your challenge for you to receive your medal. We will send your finisher medal and any other Team MSAA fundraising incentives you earn.
How do you know if I ran, walked, or biked?
Frankly, we don't, but we trust you! We’ll be following along with everyone who posts on social media, so be sure to share your challenge along the way by using the hashtags #TeamMSAA and #AnniversaryChallenge.
What happens with the money I raise as a member of Team MSAA?
Funds raised through Team MSAA help MSAA provide free programs and services such as cooling vests for heat-sensitive individuals, mobility and assistive devices, MRI funding, education programs, and more to members of the MS community.
How can my supporters make a donation?
The fastest and easiest way is to refer your supporters to your personal fundraising page or Facebook fundraising page, (learn how to connect your fundraising page with Facebook here.) Supporters can donate directly through your secure personal fundraising page or Facebook fundraiser using a credit card. Or, they can send a check made out to Multiple Sclerosis Association of America with your name on the memo line via mail to our national headquarters office at:
375 Kings Highway N
Cherry Hill, NJ 08034
Attn: Special Events
How can I find out how much I have raised?
Once you register, you will be directed to your personal fundraising page, where you can view who has donated to you online and enter any checks or cash donations you receive offline to ensure they are added to your fundraising goal.
Who thanks my supporters?
We'll send acknowledgements to anyone who donates to your efforts through your personal fundraising page. However, nothing takes the place of a personal thank-you email or card from you. We highly recommend and encourage you to personally thank your supporters, and we even offer sample thank-you emails.
Who do I make checks payable to?
Please make all checks payable to Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. Be sure to write your name in the memo line so you get credit for the donation!
Why should I use the Team MSAA online fundraising platform?
Our online fundraising platform makes it super easy to raise money and support the MS community.
If I meet my fundraising goal and set an even higher goal, will I be held accountable to the new goal if I don't reach it?
You will only be held accountable for the minimum fundraising amount. So, raise that goal as high as you'd like!
How can I honor my loved ones touched by MS through this experience?
On your personal fundraising page, you can upload photos and stories to honor those you are participating for and share why you are participating with Team MSAA.
What is a personal fundraising page?
A personal fundraising page is an online tool for your use when asking your friends and family to join your team or support you through a donation. Your personal fundraising page will allow your supporters to make safe, secure online donations directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America on your behalf. Once you sign up for a Team MSAA event online, by default, you will have a personal fundraising page created for you. You have the option of personalizing this page through your Fundraising Dashboard with a picture and your reason for joining Team MSAA.
My personal fundraising page already has content on it - do I have to change it? What if I want to change it?
No, but we recommend you do. Personalizing your fundraising page will help boost your fundraising results (and isn't everything better when it's personalized?). A compelling personal page will attract and engage supporters, so it's best if you tell your story. Emails sent through the Fundraising Dashboard will link people to your personal fundraising page, so be sure your page reflects your personal words and photos and is an expression of your commitment to the cause.
What if I forget my username/password information?
Remember that your username and password are case-sensitive. If you need assistance retrieving your username and password, you can request an email containing your login information.
How do I change my username/password?
Log in to the Fundraising Dashboard using your username and password. In the Fundraising Tools section look for the Profile link, click on it, and you will be able to change your contact information, email address, username, and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. There is no need to log in again.
How do I change my fundraising goal?
Log in to the Fundraising Dashboard using your username and password. From the My Progress section, you can modify your personal fundraising goal. Simply click Edit Goal, enter your new goal, and submit the changes.
How do I change my team name or team fundraising goal?
Only the team captain can change the team name or team goal. The team captain will need to log in to the Fundraising Dashboard, click the My Team tab, and then select View/Edit under to update the team name and goal.
How do I ask people to support my effort?
Our online fundraising tool allows you to safely and securely upload email addresses of friends and family into your event address book. By using our email templates, or by creating your own, you can ask everyone you know to join you as a participant or support you with a donation.
