What is Swim for MS?
Swim for MS is a national fundraiser in which volunteers create their own swim challenge while recruiting online donations to support the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA). Swim for MS is unique because you can create and arrange your own special Swim activity, participating individually, or recruiting other swim enthusiasts to form a team.
Who can participate?
MSAA invites everyone into the pool as Swim for MS is perfect for: all levels of swim enthusiasts; swim clubs or teams; social clubs such as fraternities, sororities, youth groups, etc.; students seeking volunteer service hours for school; and families looking for a way to give back while enjoying the summer.
How do I get started?
Swim for MS is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

How do I Swim for MS?
Swim for MS can be done individually or with a team. You can create either an on-going challenge or a one-day event. For example: swim 300 laps in 30 days and raise $1,000; or do one cannonball for every dollar raised. Think of something that will work best for you and your schedule!

How do I fundraise?
Once you register and create your personal fundraising page, friends and family are able to donate directly to your challenge. You can ask for pledges per lap, for each cannonball or general donations. Get creative with it!
Why is there a $25 registration fee?
The registration fee for Swim for MS helps MSAA cover the cost of your welcome kit and shipping. Welcome kits include 10 Swim for MS wristbands, a Swim for MS towel, and a toolkit to help you get started.
Can I get a discounted registration fee?
Yes, groups of 25 or more participants are eligible for a discounted registration fee. To inquire and set up your discount code, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
What if I don't have access to a pool?
You can Swim for MS at Any Pool, Any Time. If you do not have access to a pool, please contact Client Services, at MSquestions@mymsaa.org. They will help you locate a community pool in your area.
How is my credit card information handled?
Credit card information is not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send your credit card information to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial for the credit card donation.
Can I receive community service hours?
Swim for MS is primarily a fundraising opportunity. However, some schools will accept the planning and administration of a Swim for MS event as community service. Please contact email@example.com to inquire about community service.
*Court appointed community service is not accepted.
How do I raise money with Swim for MS?
After you register, a personal fundraising page will be created automatically with the Swim challenge fundraising goal you set. Then, you can access your participant center to send emails to friends and family, asking them to support your challenge. They can donate directly to your online fundraising page or they can mail a check to our National Headquarters.

Personal Fundraising Page
What is a Personal Fundraising Page?
A Personal Page is an online fundraising tool for you to use when asking friends, family and co-workers to join your team or make a donation. Once you sign up for Swim for MS online, a Personal Page is automatically created for you. You have the option of personalizing this page by going to your MSAA Participant Center and selecting the Personal Page button along the gray navigation bar in the middle of the screen. You will be able to customize images, text and the style/color of the web page layout.
By default I have a Personal Page; do I have to update it?
A compelling Personal Page attracts and engages your supporters. While MSAA does provide some content and you can spread the word using customized email solicitations, your Personal Page can be your own creative expression of your commitment to our cause. Customize your page by telling supporters why you are swimming, include photos, provide updates, and use social media to its fullest advantage.
Can I cut and paste content into my Personal Page?
Yes, you can cut and paste content into your Personal Page. However, do not paste content in directly from Microsoft Word. Save your text as a plain text file, such as Notepad, WordPad or another plain text editor.
What size photo can I upload into my Personal Page?
The photo file size limit is 4MB.
I'm a team captain, how do I update the message to my team?
In your MSAA Participant Center, click the “Edit” button in the "Message from Your Team Captain" box. Type the message you would like to share with your teammates and select Save.
What is the difference between making my Personal Page private or public?
By default, a Personal Page is Public, meaning your name will appear in the participant search list. Anyone accessing the site will be able to support you. Setting your Personal Page to Private means your name will not appear in the participant search list. Only people you invite by giving them your Personal Page URL will be able to support you.
How do I add my Personal Page URL to an email I send from the Participant Center?
When you send an email to your contacts from the MSAA Participant Center, a link to your Personal Page is automatically included at the bottom of the email. You do not need to include the URL for your Personal Page in the message you compose.
Trouble Logging In
I forgot my Username and Password. How do I retrieve it?
Remember that your username and password are case sensitive. Click here to find your password. You will receive an email with your username and password. If you still have problems, please contact us for help at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I change my contact information or Username and/or Password?
First, login to your MSAA Participant Center using your username and password. Once logged in you will see a link at the top of the page called "Profile" - select this link. Once in your profile, you will be able to change your contact information, email address, username, and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. There is no need to sign in again.
