We are doing a DIY fundraiser with the intention of raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
In a challenging year as this has been many events have been cancelled. What hasn't been cancelled is our ability to connect with people virtually and through acts of kindness and support. Please help Gabe and I give back and continue to help raise awareness for this great cause. Gabe and I cherish time with our family and extended family and can't wait to see all of them again. In the past we have had a chance to ride for MS. Since that did not happen last summer and so unknown for the near future we thought this would be a fun challenge to attempt and raise some money if possible.
Gabe has been running cross country for the high school for the past few years. He took on the challenge of signing up for his first 50K trail race scheduled for last spring. Due to cancellation he didn't get his shot, but went up and tackled 50K (31 miles) on the Superior Hiking Trail anyway. Through a tough training schedule and outstanding perseverance of a then 14 year old he accomplished his goal. Now at 15 he wants to take on 48 miles in 48 hours with me.
David Goggins is a former Navy Seal and best selling author. His book 'Can't Hurt Me' is an incredible read and provides unbelievable motivation to hear about his struggles and perseverance through everything life throws at him and the situations he puts himself into. He has a colorful, no-nonsense way about him that I appreciate. He will virtually kick off each leg of the race via Instagram Live as we start every 4 hours.
The race starts at 8pm PST (so 10pm CST). Please donate if you can. Every bit helps and goes a long way in gesture and acknowledgement to those dealing with this disease in a pandemic world. Please send love and support to help cheer us on as well. Like I said we miss family and friends and want to connect in any way we can. It may come in real handy during those late night and early morning hours to know you are with us.
Thank you in advance!
Paul and Gabe
Every day, people with MS live with the unpredictability of this disease. They may face unbearable fatigue, balance and mobility issues, numbness, difficulty walking, heat sensitivity, blurry vision, or any others in a long list of symptoms. No one knows what causes MS and there is no cure. But with your support, there is help – and hope – for anyone affected by MS.
MSAA improves the lives of tens of thousands of individuals with MS, their families and their care partners each year by providing free, vital programs and services such as: a toll-free Helpline; award-winning publications including a magazine, The Motivator; dynamic website featuring educational videos and research updates; S.E.A.R.C.H.™ program to assist the MS community with learning about different treatment choices; a mobile phone app, My MS Manager™; a resource database, My MS Resource Locator®; equipment distribution; educational programs and activities; MRI funding; and more.
Your support helps make the free programs and services MSAA offers possible. Please consider contributing to my fundraising goal and help improve lives today!
