With 2020 and nationwide lockdowns behind us, I am now able to pick up where I left off in 2019 - Swimming Lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California - Raising much needed MS Awareness.
In just a few short weeks , I will be heading back into the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, where in 2014 my inspiration for Sierra Nevada Open Water 4MS was born. As I stood on the deck of June Mountain Ski lodge over looking the glimmering blue-green waters of June and Gull Lakes is when it came to me of what I wanted to do, saying to myself, "One day I want to be swimming those lakes and others throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains Raising MS Awareness".
On July 30 & 31st of this year 2021, I will doing just that, realizing my epiphany of seven years ago. I will be swimming three high elevation mountain lakes situated in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains (June Lake 1-2 miles, Gull Lake .5 miles, and Lake Mary 1.1 miles) In my efforts to Raise MS Awareness and Funding for patient Programs, Products, and Services provided by the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. These Invaluable programs, products, and services provided by MSAA greatly benefit those courageous people around the country and around the world Living with MS, including myself, in meeting the daily challenges and burdens associated with this life altering disease, and in providing us all with a better a better Quality-of-Life.
I have lived with MS for the past 20 years of my life and it has made me the man I am today. Always challenging me to be a better man and a humble man with a great appreciation for life, for family and friends, and for everyday here alive on earth. A Thankful man who was blessed with the ability to find hope and humor in all of it's chaos. Living with MS has become my vocation and calling in life as I continually strive to be a shining light and inspiration to "Others of All Abilities". Given the chance, "I would not change a thing!".
