Swim for MS News - July 2017
Dog Days of Summer
The Dog Days of Summer are here! The days are long and the water is warm, so what better way to cool off from the heat than in the pool? Bring your pooch along for a dip in the pool with you! Swimming is not only good for you, but your furry friends as well. Swim together and don’t forget to send us your pictures of you and your pooch to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post on social media using the hashtag #DogDaysofSummer
Meet Team DragonFLY and their captain Courtney Evers! This is Courtney’s fourth year putting together Team DragonFLY and participating in Swim for MS. Team DragonFLY’s goal was to swim 4,825 laps – the distance in miles between Courtney in Hawaii and her mother, Elaine, who has MS, in New York. “This is such a great challenge, because you can make it whatever you want. You can get your friends involved and keep them motivated. If you care, they will too! We started with just three swimmers for my first event in 2011 and now we have 26 active swimmers on our team roster from all over the country, including some in the Navy and Coast Guard.” As a team they raised more than $5,000 and swam an average of 30 laps to complete their challenge!
